Old Salt Fishing Co. LLC (“Old Salt,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Old Salt Fishing Co. mobile application collects, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

Account Information:

When you create an Old Salt account, we may collect information such as your email address, username, profile picture, and other account information you choose to provide. Authentication may also be provided through services such as Sign in with Apple.

Catch Information

When you log a catch, the app may store information you provide including species, fishing location or area, catch date and time, photograph, rig, bait, length, weight, and other catch details.

Catch photographs are uploaded only when you choose to log or upload the catch.

Location Information

Old Salt uses your device's location to determine your fishing area, identify applicable marine protected areas, determine 50-fathom status where applicable, and provide fishing conditions such as tides and other location-based information.

Old Salt does not store the exact GPS latitude and longitude of your catches. A catch is stored using the resolved named fishing location or general fishing area rather than the precise coordinates where the catch occurred.

Location access is controlled through your device's iOS privacy settings.

Locally Stored Catch Data

Incomplete or offline catches may temporarily be stored on your device so they can be completed or uploaded later. You may delete these catches before they are uploaded.

Technical Information

The app and its service providers may process limited technical information necessary to operate the service, authenticate users, store data, diagnose errors, and maintain application security and reliability.

How We Use Information

We use information collected through Old Salt to operate and improve the app; create and maintain user accounts; save and display catches; calculate points, statistics, titles, and leaderboard results; provide species, fishing-location, tide, weather, marine protected area, and other fishing information; prevent abuse; troubleshoot problems; and maintain the security and reliability of the service.

Sharing and Service Providers

Old Salt does not sell your personal information and does not use your information for cross-app advertising or tracking.

We use third-party service providers when necessary to operate the app. These may include Google Firebase for authentication, database services, and photo storage; Apple for services such as Sign in with Apple; and government information services such as NOAA and the National Weather Service for fishing-condition data.

Old Salt uses service providers only for purposes necessary to operate the application, and user information shared with service providers is expected to receive protections consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy requirements.

Public and Shared Fishing Information

Certain information associated with fishing activity may be visible to other Old Salt users, including your username, profile image, catch information, species statistics, points, titles, and leaderboard results.

Old Salt does not display the exact GPS coordinates where a catch was recorded.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain account and catch information while your account remains active or as otherwise necessary to operate the service.

You may request deletion of your Old Salt account using the account deletion feature available within the app. Account deletion removes personal account information and user-created catch records and photos associated with the account from our active systems, subject to technical, legal, or security requirements.

Anonymous or aggregated statistics that no longer identify you may remain after account deletion. For example, an anonymous count indicating that a particular species was caught at a general fishing location may remain as part of Old Salt's overall fishing statistics.

Your Choices

You can control access to device features such as location and camera through iOS Settings. Certain Old Salt features may not function without required permissions.

You may also delete your Old Salt account from within the app if you no longer wish to use the service.

Children's Privacy

Old Salt is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information stored through Old Salt. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Old Salt changes. The updated policy will be posted at this location with a revised “Last Updated” date.
